Presentation of the CCDH Approach

As part of the process of strengthening democratic achievements and the process of transition, and in order to entrench democratic practices, the Advisory Council on Human Rights (CCDH) will monitor the parliamentary elections of September 2007, through:

- Facilitating cooperation between the public authorities and civil society associations to set the stage for the latter to observe the elections;

- Facilitating the international election observation;

- Implementing the CCDH responsibilities in the field of protection of human rights in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice in order to ensure prompt intervention in case of violations;

- Ensuring a direct observation of the elections in the central polling stations;

- Cooperating with the High Commission for Audiovisual Communication (HACA) as regards the opening of communication channels to monitor the electoral process;

- Conducting studies and research to support the CCDH work according to international standards;

- Developing an issue-specific report containing conclusions and recommendations.
