Meeting of ICC Bureau in Rabat
The Bureau of the International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (ICC) will hold its second annual meeting on November 1-2, 2009 in Rabat.The office of the ICC, composed of 16 members, four elected members from each geographic region and representing the four networks of national institutions for the promotion and protection of human rights: the African Network, the Asia-Pacific Forum, the European Group and the Network of the Americas, holds for the first time its meeting outside its headquarters in Geneva, following the decision adopted at the 22nd session, held from March 23-27, 2009.
It should be noted that the ICC was established as an association of national institutions under Swiss law, and aims to promote and strengthen NHRIs in conformity with the Paris Principles.
The ICC is responsible for promoting the development and coordination of international activities of NHRIs in conformity with the Paris Principles, and performing other functions in accordance with the recommendations of its voting members.
Also, it is important to note that the Advisory Council on Human Rights (CCHR) was the first Arab institution to get A status, given by the Accreditation Subcommittee of the ICC since 2001.
