The CCDH Secretary General, Mr Mahjoub El Haiba, participates in a regional seminar on 'mechanisms and international conventions of human rights', held on April 14-15, 2008, in the region of the Dead Sea in Jordan. The seminar, organised by the Jordanian Adala association in cooperation with The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, is targeting decision-makers in national institutions for the promotion of human rights and NGOs in the region of the Middle East and North Africa (Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia).
The meeting aims to present the program of capacity building for national institutions in the region and to consolidate the prospects of cooperation and coordination between them.
This seminar is a first step of a program that extends to a four-year period and revolves around three phases: a first phase of meeting to outline the engagement of the institutions in the project, a second phase of training followed by a phase of establishing a joint project on the question of human rights and a final phase of follow-up and evaluation to discuss issues specific to the region in the field of human rights.
