TWO PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATIONS OF CHILE INFORMED ABOUT THE MOROCCAN EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD OF TRANSITIONAL JUSTICE AND HUMAN RIGHTS PROMOTION
President of the Advisory Council on Human Rights (CCDH), Ahmed Herzenni, met, respectively, on 15 and 22 November 2010, two parliamentary delegations of Chile. The visit of the two delegations to Morocco aims to strengthen relations, cooperation and friendship ties between Moroccan and Chile in the different fields.
Mr. Herzenni briefed the delegations on the Moroccan experience in the field of transitional justice, the process of reform adopted by the Kingdom of Morocco and the context in which the Council was created. This experience revealed the willingness of the State to entrench human rights and liberties of the Moroccan people, to move forwards the future, learn from the past experience and guarantee the non-repetition of the past human rights violations.
Mr. Herzenni highlighted that the Council is a national independent and pluralistic institution in charge of the promotion and protection of human rights and underlined its missions and structures. He recalled the experience of the Equity and Reconciliation Commission, whose recommendations have been entrusted to the Council. He briefed the delegations on the important projects of the Council, such as the Citizenship Platform for the Promotion of Human Rights and National Plan of Action on Democracy and Human Rights…
The members of the two delegations indicated that they are concerned by the relations between Morocco and Chile in the different fields. These meetings were an opportunity to have a closer look at the Moroccan experience in the field of human rights and consider cooperation possibilities in this field.
