The project of the new methodologies in the field of human rights and calls for local development is financed by Ford Foundation and executed by the Center for Arab Women Training and Research in three Arab countries (Morocco, in cooperation with the Advisory Council on Human Rights, Egypt and Yemen). It aims to financially support selected associations and strengthen their capacities to execute projects aiming to promote citizenship and social justice and ensure dignity and equality. It fosters projects on land and right to housing, water and natural resources, health and education, giving a particular importance to the issue of gender dimension in all projects.
The project targets the poor and vulnerable population in semi-urban areas, forests and arid areas, Sahara and Rif areas and villages. The idea is to listen to their complaints and identify their needs to strengthen their concepts of citizenship and social justice.
Created in 1993 in Tunisia, the Center for Arab Women Training and Research (CAWTAR) is an Independent Regional Institution promoting gender equality in the Arab World through research, training, networking and advocacy.
