The European Union (Community reparation program)

The agreement aims to start the implementation of the community reparation program, in implementation of the Equity and Reconciliation Commission (IER)'s recommendations. The Program concerns the regions which suffered from gross human rights violations.

This project seeks to involve the state in a process of reparation which is based on positive discrimination for the regions where there were gross human rights violations, and to establish a new local dynamics bringing together local communes and external services of central administrations. At first, the program was directed at eight regions, namely Errachidia, Zagoura, Khenifra, Ouarzazate, Al Hoceima, Nador and Casablanca (Hay Mohammadi). After the signature of the conventions on the implementation of the community reparation program, the regions of Tan Tan, Azilal and Khemisset were added. Date of signature: July 6, 2009
