Partnership between CNDH and French Embassy in Rabat for human rights capacity building

The CNDH and the Embassy of France in Morocco signed on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the Council in Rabat, a partnership agreement for collaboration and exchange in the area of human rights protection and promotion.

Signed by the CNDH Chairman and the Ambassador of France, this agreement aimed particularly on human rights capacity building programs, institutional support to the Council, and the organization of joint activities.

A series of concrete actions was scheduled for 2014:

  • support to CNDH’s future national human rights training center;
  • development of guidelines on human rights normative references;
  • support to a human rights document collection program;
  • and the organization of seminars and training courses on international protection of human rights in Morocco, in cooperation with specialized French institutions.

French ambassador Charles Frey affirmed his embassy’s wish to support the National Human Rights Council’s efforts to train civil society actors and administration staff in human rights. One million Dirhams will be allocated to support CNDH’s activities in 2014, he said.

Mr. Frey praised the contributions of the National Human Rights Council and the human rights promotion efforts in Morocco.
