CCDH and IRCAM to Sign an Agreement of Cooperation and Partnership

The Advisory Council on Human Rights (CCDH) and the Royal Institute for Amazigh Culture (IRCAM) sign on November 3, 2008, an agreement of cooperation and partnership.

As part of enhancing the strategic choice of Morocco for democracy-building, aiming to strengthen the foundations of a modern society with rights and duties, imbued with the values of human rights and a culture of citizenship, dialogue, tolerance and difference, the IRCAM and the CCDH sign an agreement of cooperation and partnership on the promotion of the human rights culture, exchange of expertise and training in the fields falling within their remit and the involvement by both institutions in special programs set out in the Convention.

In accordance with this Convention, the IRCAM supports the CCDH in:

- Promoting linguistic and cultural rights, and research in this area;

- Translating and reviewing documents of the amazigh version of the CCDH website;

- Contributing to the development of guides and training programs on human rights in Amazigh language;

- Contributing to cultural activities on the community reparation program and preservation of collective memory;

- Contributing to the promotion and protection of economic, social and cultural rights.

On the other hand, the CCDH supports the IRCAM in:

- Developing and implementing a strategy for cultural and linguistic rights;

- Conducting expertise in human rights, particularly cultural and linguistic rights;

- Training the IRCAM executives in the field of human rights;

- Involving the IRCAM in the development and implementation of the community reparation program and preservation of memory in the regions concerned;

- Including economic, social and cultural rights in the topics covered by the Mohammed VI Human Rights.

The Convention will be implemented by a steering and monitoring committee, composed of members of both institutions, and in charge of validating the annual work programs and ensuring their implementation.

The signing ceremony takes place on November 3, 2008 at 12:30 pm at the IRCAM headquarters, located at Avenue Allal El Fassi, Madinat Al Irfane, Hay Riad.
