INMATES DETAINED IN SALÉ PRISON FOLLOWING GDIM IZIK CAMP EVENTS DECIDE TO END HUNGER STRIKE FOLLOWING CNDH MEDIATION

In line with its mandate, mainly anticipated intervention, conciliation and mediation, the (Moroccan) National Human Rights Council (CNDH) intervened to end the hunger strike of the Salé prison inmates who were detained following Gdim Izik Camp events.

CNDG Secretary General Mr. Mohammed Essabbar and Mr. Abdelkader Azrie, chairman of CNDH regional human rights commission in Rabat-Kenitra, visited the group on Friday December 2, 2011.

The 24-inmate group’s demands related to detention conditions were met and accordingly they decided to end their hunger strike.
